Well, it really depends on how long the library has had that name.  I 
never expected the gimp people to change the name of their program when 
it was pointed out that some might find the name offensive...but it has 
retarded the success of the project significantly, and kept it out of at 
least two businesses that I know of.  Recently they've started altering 
the display so that is doesn't say "The Gimp" but now says "The GNU 
Image Manipulation Program" on the startup screen.  That's what "The 
Gimp" always stood for, but now they've altered the startup screen to 
make the name less blatant...because some people *were* offended, and 
because businesses didn't want to risk offending customers.

I wouldn't avoid using the library because of the name, but I might well 
avoid mentioning it to others.
