small example on gen_event behaviour

Hi,

I am working with behaviours 'gen_event' and
'gen_server' , Can u please describe the core concept
of this gen_event behaviour with small example.

I am going through OTP tuturial where he is talking
about callback fn and behaviour fn and no example is
given.

provided small example makes me understand better.
