small example on gen_event behaviour

Hi,

I am working with behaviours gen_event and gen_server,
Can u please describe the core concept of this
gen_event behaviour with small example.

i am going through OTP tutorial, he is talking about  
callback functions, behaviour functions and no example

is given.

provided 'small example' makes me understand better.
