[erlang-questions] dirty nifs vs custom pool of threads for a database

Would dirty nifs be a good use case to handle call to an embedded database?

Say for example if we want to replace the usage of the eleveldb threadpool
in eleveldb by just marking async tasks as IO bound and make them
synchronous? Is
