As the speedup only concerns the scanner part, it depends largly on
how much else your application is doing besides scanning.

It depends on how well written the ABNF spec is.
If it maps well to a lex/flex grammar it should not be so much work.

The most work with the Megaco flex scanner was caused by a poor ABNF spec.
