multiprocessor SMP support?

The distribution module is replacable. For example there is an SSL
version in the SSL application.  There is a user contribution for Unix
domain sockets.  It would be interesting to see a new distribution
module written to use a linked in driver which would be designed
to maximize performance in an SMP system.  Using shared memory or
some such mechanism instead of the TCP/IP stack it should be possible
to really speed things up.
