mnesia:transaction

dear friends,i am trying to write a first record to mnesia.
for; 

mnesia:transaction(F)

debugger evaluates F to be #Fun
yet, when i run;
mnesia:info().
it shows;record_table with 0 records occupying 301 words of mem
2 transactions committed,2 aborted,the remainder all showing zeros.
what might cause an 

mnesia:write/3 

to abort ?
