[erlang-questions] Trimming log output

I'm using the dbg module to work through some knotty issues in integration
tests (as I feel out how to reduce said issues...) and in the meantime I
wonder if there's a way to explain to dbg or ~p that I don't need all the
details of a re_pattern in my output.

Is there something like marking a type as opaque but for log output? Am I
better off trying to do some kind of post-processing?
