Somehow my problem with the Erlang reference manual was always that
it's not huge enough. I mean, pattern matching is a very important
part of the language, but the pattern matching chapter contains five
lines of text plus six lines of example at
http://www.erlang.org/doc/reference_manual/patterns.html.
Helpfully it contains links to the patterns expressions, but I think
that a lot more example would be really useful.
