[erlang-questions] Kernel poll

Hi all,

I've seen that the use of kernel poll (+K true) significantly increases 
performance when dealing with many file descriptors and I'm wondering if 
  there is there any particular reason that kernel poll is disabled by 
default, are there any apparent disadvantages with using kernel poll?
