About GUI toolkits, maybe someone already mentioned this, but the
Common Lisp Interface Manager (CLIM) looks extremely sexy to me. You
can find a lot of links about it at http://www.cliki.net/CLIM

Maybe some nice ideas to steal :-). It's refreshingly high-level, and
AFAIK it was the UI on some of the Lisp machines.

It seems to have the Emacs-nature, but not look and feel :-)
