R8 on Redhat 8.0

I was wondering if anyone has any experiance building R8 on redhat 8.0? 
I am getting the error

I get the same error with make and gmake and I have tried -1 and -2 of 
R8. I have tried a variety of "tricks" but nothing non-destructive seems 
to want to work. I am assuming that redhat mucked somthing up and I am 
wondering if anyone knows how I sweep up the peices.
