gen_server2 proliferation

I've been using sed quite a bit, renaming gen_server2 modules to
resolve naming conflict across projects.

Appending the last three chars of a hex digest of the project name
works well. That's room for 4k versions!

Short of military tribunal, does anyone have a thought on how to resolve this?

Is there a common set of changes that could possibly make it into
Erlang? Should someone approach the projects with a request to prefix
the names, as it typically done?

Of course, this is only a problem when projects coexist :)
