I think because of Erlang's roots in langauages like Prolog, I've
found it easiest to think of the comma as "and" and the semicolon as
"or".
That fits in quite nicely with the comma being the sequencing
operator, wheras the semicolon acts as the searator between function,
if, and receive clauses, etc. It also explains the guard syntax. The
fullstop being the proper terminator at the end of an "Erlang
sentence".
