The "concurrency existed before erlang" slide is very odd.
It lists *late* languages, not mentioning
 - Burroughs Algol (~1965)
 - PL/I (~1965)
 - Simula 67 (cooperative threads, basically)
 - Algol 68
 - Concurrent Pascal (1975)
all of which pre-dated most if not all of the languages on
that slide.  Per Brinch Hansen has a list of key papers:
