[erlang-questions] erl_compare_ext

following up on sean's pointer to erl_compare_ext:

i have a simple C program (attached) where erl_compare_ext says "44359 <
mpegs" and yet erlang shell says "mpegs < 44359".

any tips would be appreciated.
