[erlang-questions] query about FILE_BUFSIZE in ftp.erl

Hi,
        In erlang source code (ftp.erl) there is -define(FILE_BUFSIZE,
4096).
can I know the reason why the FILE_BUFSIZE is  specified as 4096?
what will happen if I increase value FILE_BUFSIZE?
