[erlang-questions] Low Level Socket Example

hi all!

I have been browsing the source code in hopes of learning more about how the network stack works, as implemented by Erlang. At this point, a small example would be extremely helpful. How would I go about opening a socket and sending a single SYN (structured as the first packet in the TCP 3-way handshake) and then stop communications? Since this doesn't follow the standard TCP connect paradigm (single packet, no FIN, etc.), it will be a helpful example for myself.
