[erlang-questions] Erlang for a SMTP Server?

While erlang seems the perfect language and I always enjoy implementing
alternative solutions to problems that have previously been solved, if
you are under the gun to produce something for your job you might want
to look at OpenBSD.

There is a spamd (spam daemon) that comes with the installation. Setup
your firewall to relay packets to your SMTP server, but use the spamd to
block spam. It uses whitelisting and greylisting, forces everyone to
try twice before they get into the whitelist and stutters very slowly at
spammers. It's been around for a while, it works and it takes very
little load on a machine. At the same time you will be able to take
full control of firewalling and logging all packets that come through
your external machine.
