how do I tune the ring benchmark?

Using the ring benchmark attached in 
http://www.erlang.org/ml-archive/erlang-questions/200410/msg00228.html
you can tune the number of processes as well as the payload
passed in the messages.

This benchmark was also used later in 
http://www.erlang.org/ml-archive/erlang-questions/200412/msg00141.html
