OTP is a bad name, as the T should stand for

* Distributed
* Fault Tolerant
* Soft Real time
* Massively concurrent

and not Telecom.

OTP consists of three components:

* Erlang
* Applications (Of which some *might* be telecom related)
* Design Principles

It is unfortunate that when Erlang went open source, they never picked 
up the name we were using it when commercially selling in, namely Erlang 
System.
