Yeah that's super cool :-)

Thmopson cited an "unknown air force document" as the source of the
idea, and that document (updated) actually turned up on slashdot
recently:

Very nice story of choosing some major approaches to breaching
security (hardware bugs, ...) and then setting out to break it in each
way (with success.)
