If nothing is listening on the port, then erlang is doing the correct behavior.   PHP isn't exactly known for doing the "correct" behavior in all cases, (ie: 0 = "0" = "" = NULL).   If you really want to be sure, write a small C program using connect so you can see that Erlang is in fact working correctly.<br>
