Firstly, thanks for the greate language and platform of Erlang; and

second, thanks for the book - Concurrent Programming in Erlang -

although only part I is freely available :-)<br>

As the title, we (I as the initiator and several other volunteers) are

planning to translate part I of this book into Chinese. Actually, we've

done a lot, you can browse the Chinese version online from here:<br>

It is still not finished yet, but is obviously progressing very fast!

The translated Chinese version is promised to be always freely online.

At first, it was only my own interest, and I haven't thought too much

about the licence and other legal issues especially issues about copy

rights. Although the book is freely online, it is not protected by any

licence now, and I think this is dangerous.<br>

Today, I decided to release the translated edition under the Creative

Commons licence. But a friend of mine reminded me that, I should

firstly get permissions from the original authors. Oh my! Sorry for

being so dull about these legal things. I just saw the book publicly

downloadable from erlang.org, and thought that since it is freely

available, then there should be no problem to translate it and release

the translation while keeping the translation still freely available

online. Now, although I still hold more or less the same view point,

I'm not so sure. And here is my question:<br>
