Park Life is pleased to announce Moods in Free Time, a solo art exhibit featuring the work of Ian Johnson. The exhibit will feature new paintings and drawings on paper and wood by the San Francisco based artist. Johnsons new show will include his signature subjects: jazz musicians and authors from mid 20th Century. Moods in Free Time will showcase Johnsons ability to bring the viewer into the world of his subject where creativity and psyche are inextricably linked. His subjects investigate the spontaneous and searching nature of jazz and the physical structure of the human form. Ian Johnson was born in Syracuse, NY and currently lives and works in San Francisco. Johnson is the Art director for Western Edition Skateboards. His illustrations have appeared in publications that include Straight No Chaser, Wax Poetics, The San Francisco Chronicle, and SB (Japan) among others. Located on upper Clement Street, Park Life is a 1200 sq. ft. divided into a retail shop and multi-use art space. Owners Derek Song and Jamie Alexander opened their doors in September 2006. The clean and simply arranged store offers apparel, art and design books, modern design object, artist multiples, limited edition prints, home wares, gifts, toys and much more from local and international designers.
