mod_auth using mnesia

dear erlangers,from the user guide we read;
"The mod_auth(3) [1] module provides for basic user authentication
using ... Mnesia databases."
how does
 mod_auth:add_user/6 

manage to 

mnesia:write/3

?
i will be grateful for any URL to an example of how this is done.
