[erlang-questions] Walkie Talkie app with Erlang backend

I am thinking of creating a clone for Voxer which is a walkie talkie app
which uses data for transferring the messages. It uses nodejs at the
backend and I think erlang would be a better fit for this.

What do you guys think?

And rather than writing a new backend, cant I do the same thing with and
XMPP server?

Suggestions needed.
