Hi Erlangers,
As far almost all Erlangers in the world posted on this subject :>) ...
here is my humble opinion.
Open Telecom Platform,
yes a bit puzzling, but I have to admit that I found Erlang,
many years ago, by searching a Telecom language on Internet.
I felt in love immediately with Erlang, and spent weeks to understand
in what OTP was built for Telecom ...
But it was like to meet your wife in a dinner
you did not want to go to.
OTP is not mandatory for Erlang, but :
OTP avoid to re-invent ,each time, the wheel.
OTP give good libraries and tools.
OTP give good practices, in libraries and documentation.
OTP allow apps coming from several sources to run together and
being managed the same way.
OTP help to keep your applications running almost forever.
So, now, until this mail thread, I almost forgot what T in OTP was meaning.
And for me it is just now : Open Trustworthy Platform
Regards
