[erlang-questions] Let's get rid of packages

Hello everyone,

I have heard (delightful) rumors that packages are being removed. If this
is true, can it be confirmed?

Otherwise I would like to provide some patches because embedded mode is not
working correctly with packages (but everything else seems to be working
properly in my experience).
