This file system path thing is getting me down...

This isn't a problem specific to erlang but I find myself writing file
path manipulation stuff over and over and/or having a ream of
functions in the inevitable (but ugly) my_app util modules simply to
deal with file paths.

I was wondering whether anyone has opinions on elegant ways to deal
with file paths in applications or could point to an erlang
application that does this particularly well?
