Other communities (Scala and OCaml are currently dealing with this)
address this by setting up a repository of third party extensions that
play well together and hopefully are on a migration path to inclusion
in the baseline.  This is a very different beast than opening up the
main repository.

I would completely support and agree with an ErlangX repository for
this purpose.
