[erlang-questions] clarify: R12B-0 on mac: which libgd for installing percept ?

So, my problem is similar... only different: I'm on a Macbook Pro (Intel)
running Leopard (10.5.1). I downloaded R12B, downloaded the patch, applied
the patch and then tried the following:

./configure --enable-smp-support --enable-darwin-64bit

At the end of the run I get the following:

*********************************************************************
********************** APPLICATIONS DISABLED **********************
*********************************************************************

percept : libgd not working

*********************************************************************

libgd is installed and seems to be working (after installing, I ran "gdtest
test/gdtest.png" and got the expected results).

I think I may have two different versions of libgd installed: one in
/usr/local/lib and one in /opt/local/lib.

I have checked the configure.in file and even changed the order of the paths
on the "for dir in" line so that the /opt/local directory is checked first.
Nothing seems to make a difference.

So, from the error message it seems that it is finding libgd but it is not
working as configure expects?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
