You mean

Don't think it is a bug. On Solaris and Linux max double is defined as

  /usr/include/values.h:#define   MAXDOUBLE       1.79769313486231570e+308
  /usr/include/values.h:#define   MINDOUBLE       4.94065645841246544e-324
