Erlang installation problems

Hi all,

I am trying to install the Erlang R9B release, but no luck so far.
After searching the list archives I found the tip of setting
LANG=C, which at least postponed the build failure. The present error
is (last lines of it)

usr/local/share/erlang/otp_src_R9B-0/erts/emulator/sys/unix/sys.c:3236:
undefined reference to `pre_loaded'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: ***
[/usr/local/share/erlang/otp_src_R9B-0/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/beam.instr]
Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory
`/usr/local/share/erlang/otp_src_R9B-0/erts/emulator'
make[1]: *** [instr] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory
`/usr/local/share/erlang/otp_src_R9B-0/erts/emulator'
make: *** [emulator.instr] Error 2

Any suggestions?

(My system: uname -a: Linux matstaff04.nuigalway.ie 2.4.20 #2 SMP Fri Jan

gcc --version: gcc (GCC) 3.2.1)

TIA,
