C interface question

I have a question for those of you  who use the C
interface. The function ei_get_type from the ei
library returns a type value as an it. There is
nothing there to indicate where the defines are for
the diffrent types. I went looking and found a list of
types in the eiext.h file but I am not sure that these
are the actual defines.  In any case, could someone
point this out for me?
