I was having a brief play with this the other day. You can use it something
like:

http:request_sync(get, {"http://www.erlang.org", []}). to just grab a web
page.

The other options are useful if you want to post data to the web server or
set up other HTTP headers.

It is nicely written so some time spent reading the source will reveal much
more I'm sure.
