Supervisor and its children arguments

It seems like a supervisor stores it's children data even if the
children are temporary. Is it really needed? We experience ~500Mb of RAM
consumed by such supervisor because children arguments contain lots of data.
Is it possible to improve such behaviour?

Thank you.
